Recently a Tibetan Dzogchen meditation master attained Rainbow Body. The day before his passing away he told his followers, “Now it’s time for me to leave this existence. I appreciate for all your kindness, and forgive me if I have mentioned any harsh words to any of you”. The next morning he told one of his disciples to bring his yellow robe (monk’s clothe to wear during meditation and ritual). He wore the robe, sat in meditation pose and peacefully passed into parinirvana. His remains (physical body) is getting smaller and smaller day by day!
In the past there were many meditation masters who attained Rainbowbody in Tibetan Buddhist tradition.
What is #Rainbowbody : 🌈
Rainbow body (Tib. འཇའ་ལུས་, ‘ja’ lus) fully accomplished Dzogchen meditation practitioners can dissolve their body at the time of death.
Through the practice of trekchö, the practitioner can attain the so-called ‘rainbow body’, in which the body becomes smaller and smaller as it dissolves, emanating rainbow light, and finally only the hair and nails are left behind.
Through the practice of tögal, the practitioner can dissolve his or her body into the ‘Light Body’ (Tib. འོད་སྐུ་, ö ku), where the body transforms into light and disappears completely into space.
